Sharing and Export

An exam can leave ZeroExam as a downloadable file or as a link that opens without an account.

FormatQueryNotes
PDF?format=pdfA4 layout with wrapped text and answer lines
DOCX?format=docxWord document

Exports contain the question text, options, and marks in exam order. They do not contain answers.

Scripts beyond Latin — Arabic, Urdu, Devanagari, and CJK among them — are detected in the exam content and the matching fonts are embedded in the PDF, so right-to-left and non-Latin papers render correctly.

Each export counts against your plan’s export allowance for the period.

A share link is a token URL for one exam. Anyone holding it can open the exam without an account.

ControlBehaviour
ExpiryOptional. After the moment you set, the link stops working.
Maximum usesOptional. After the link has been opened that many times, it stops working.
Use countIncremented when a student submits, so you can see uptake.

Students receive only approved questions, and the correct answers are removed before the questions are sent. Multiple-choice and true/false answers are graded automatically on submission and the student is shown a score with a per-question breakdown.

Archiving an exam turns sharing off.

  • PDF export downloads and opens with readable text in the exam’s language
  • The share link opens in a private browser window
  • The student view shows no correct answers before submission
  • An expired or exhausted link is refused
